Most Dubai bathrooms are tiled floor to ceiling in porcelain or marble. Drilling through them without cracking the tile takes a diamond bit, slow speed and water cooling. Behind the tile, we fix into concrete or block with rated anchors, or into studs on gypsum walls.
Each fixing hole is sealed with silicone so water cannot get behind the tiles. Once fitted, the bar is load-tested by pulling hard in every direction it will be used. If it moves at all, it is refixed.

Towel Rails Are Not Grab Bars
Towel rails and soap holders are not built to take body weight. People often grab them when they slip. Replace them with rated grab bars where possible.

Know the Difference
Temporary support only
Bars that stick to smooth tiles with suction cups. They are useful for balance while travelling, but they can release without warning, especially on textured or grouted surfaces.
Recommended
Stainless steel bars screwed into solid wall or studs with rated anchors. They support a person's full weight and stay put for years.
Fitting a grab bar starts from AED 120 per bar, including drilling through tile and sealing. Supplied bars and fold-down toilet rails cost more depending on size and finish. Prices vary and can change depending on your exact requirements, the materials and access to the property, so the final price is confirmed after we see photos or visit.
A grab bar should be rated to support at least the full body weight of the user with a good margin. Quality stainless steel bars fixed into solid wall support well over 100 kg.
Suction-cup bars need no drilling but can release without warning, so they should only be used for light balance support. For real safety, a screw-fixed bar is recommended.

Each grab bar takes 20 to 40 minutes including careful drilling through tiles and sealing. A full bathroom is usually done in one to two hours.
