A hammock on a shaded terrace or a hanging chair in a bedroom corner is a favourite way to relax in Dubai, but it has to hold a person's weight swinging. We find solid fixing points, use rated hardware and hang hammocks at the right height and sag.
01 / Options
Hung between two solid walls or columns with rated eye bolts. They suit terraces and wide balconies. Block or concrete walls are needed.
Hanging chairs on a swivel hook fixed into a concrete slab or beam. They suit bedrooms and living rooms. Gypsum ceilings alone cannot carry them.
Hammocks hung from timber or steel posts or a pergola. They suit gardens without trees. Posts are set in concrete.
Steel or timber hammock stands that need no fixing. They suit rentals and roof terraces. They can be moved with the shade.
02 / Fixings
Safe
A chemical or heavy sleeve anchor into concrete holds a hanging chair safely. The load goes straight into the structure. This is how we hang ceiling chairs.
Not safe alone
Gypsum board cannot carry a person's weight. The fixing must pass through to the slab above. We check before drilling.
Relax Safely
A hammock has to carry a person's weight swinging, so fixings matter.
We find solid fixing points, use rated hardware and hang hammocks at the right height.
A hammock pulls sideways on its fixings as well as down, and swinging multiplies the load. Rated eye bolts or hooks set into concrete, block or solid timber are essential. We avoid hollow blocks and gypsum alone.
Height and sag matter for comfort. A typical hammock hangs with its lowest point about half a metre above the floor and a gentle curve. We set the hanging points so it is easy to get in and out.
For pergolas to hang from, see outdoor woodwork. For trampolines, see trampoline assembly, and for children's rooms, bedroom furniture assembly.

Yes. The most common DIY mistakes are springs fitted unevenly, enclosure poles not locked and frames not anchored. Professional assembly checks every connection and anchors the frame against strong winds.
A spring puller, rubber mallet, spanners or Allen keys and a drill for anchor kits. Springs are under tension, so the right puller makes assembly safer and protects the mat.
Not from the gypsum alone. The fixing must go through to the concrete slab or a beam above, which we check before drilling.
Most hammocks and hanging chairs take one to two hours to install.
We install hammocks in homes, gardens and terraces across Dubai.
