Cracked Tile
Likely cause: Hammer mode or wrong bit on glazed tile.
What we do: Tile-rated bit in rotary mode, starting slowly.
Al Salam Tower, Office 15B, Al Barsha, DubaiEvery day, 8am to 10pm
Marble cracks under a hammer drill, tiles chip at the edge, hollow block swallows plugs and gypsum cannot hold weight on its own. Each wall needs its own technique. We mount mirrors securely on every surface found in Dubai homes, without damage.
By Surface
| Surface | Drilling | Fixing |
|---|---|---|
| Concrete | Hammer drill, masonry bit | Heavy-duty plugs or sleeve anchors |
| Hollow Block | Rotary drill, masonry bit | Resin anchors or long plugs |
| Ceramic and Porcelain Tile | Tile-rated bit, no hammer | Plugs set behind the tile |
| Marble and Stone | Diamond core bit with water | Plugs or resin, stainless screws |
| Gypsum Board | Light drilling | Metal cavity anchors or studs |
Marble and large-format porcelain are expensive to replace and spare tiles are often unavailable. We use water-cooled diamond bits, tape the drilling point and start slowly, so the surface is not chipped or cracked.
Behind tiles there may be pipes. We scan for pipes and cables before drilling any bathroom or kitchen wall.
For bathrooms, see bathroom mirror installation. For heavy pieces, see heavy mirror mounting, and for tile repairs, tile regrouting.
Spare Tiles
Keep a few spare tiles. They make future repairs simple.
No-Drill Options
Very light mirrors can be bonded with mirror adhesive where drilling is not allowed.
No Damage
Each wall surface needs its own drilling and fixing technique.
We protect tile and marble finishes and choose fixings that hold.
