The climate shapes the choice. Strong sun fades unlined fabrics within a couple of summers, so we usually suggest a lining or a separate blackout layer on south and west-facing windows. Sheers in linen or voile take the edge off the glare without making the room dark.
Ceiling height matters too. Many Dubai apartments have ceilings around 2.7 to 3 metres, and curtains hung from just above the window make the room feel lower. Hanging the rod or track higher, or fixing it to the ceiling, lets the fabric fall from top to bottom and makes the room feel taller.
Most curtain makers in Satwa, Karama and Al Quoz sew to a finished drop. Once your hardware is fitted, we measure that drop for you. For the hardware itself, see our guide to curtain rod, track and rail installation in Dubai, and for glass walls, ceiling-mounted tracks.
