The biggest mistake we see is a standard TV power cord pushed through a hole in a gypsum wall and plugged into a socket below. Power cords are not designed to sit inside a wall cavity, and in a Dubai summer the air behind a wall can get warm. A proper in-wall kit uses a recessed power inlet behind the TV and a matching outlet near the floor, joined by cable rated for in-wall use.
Low voltage cables such as HDMI, network and speaker wire can run inside the cavity through a brush plate. We keep them apart from power where we can, which reduces interference on the picture and sound.
On concrete or block walls, cutting a channel creates a lot of dust and noise, and most towers will not allow it without approval. A painted raceway is quicker, tidy and comes off cleanly when you move out.
Connecting a soundbar or a home theater adds more cables. See our guide to soundbar and home theater mounting and integration in Dubai, or go back to the main TV wall mounting in Dubai page.
